Mike Monsoor – An American Hero

Mike Monsoor, Navy Petty Officer Second Class, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Second Class

April 5th, 1981 ~ September 29th, 2006

Mike Monsoor

Mike Monsoor was awarded “The Congressional Medal Of Honor” last week, for giving his life In Iraq as he jumped on  and covered with his body a live hand grenade that was accidentally dropped by a Navy Seal saving the lives of a large group of Navy Seals that was passing by!

During Mike Monsoor’s funeral, at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery  in San Diego , California;

The six pallbearers removed the rosewood casket from the hearse and lined up on each side of Mike Monsoor’s casket. A column of people including his family members, friends, fellow sailors, and well-wishers gathered. The column of people continued from the hearse all the way to the grave site.

What the group didn’t know at the time was, every Navy Seal (45 To Be Exact) that Mike Monsoor saved that day was scattered through-out the column!  Every time the rosewood casket passed a Navy Seal, he would remove his gold Trident Pin from his uniform and slap it down hard, causing the Gold Trident Pin to embed Itself into the top of the wooden casket! Then the Navy Seal would step back from the column and salute!

Mike Monsoor coffin

It was said that you could hear each of the 45 slaps from across the cemetery! By the time the rosewood casket reached the grave site, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from the 45 Trident Pins that lined the top!

Please keep Mike’s family in your thoughts and prayers today……………………….

Hat tip reader Bob – thank you.

President Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize – UPDATED

Via Breitbart:

The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama’s name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president.

2 weeks……….

Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

So this is a pre-emptive award?

UPDATE

Even MSNBC thinks this is a joke. Once again – it’s Bush’s fault.

If we are to take Mr. Reid at his word – then why did the CBO bother to cost out the bill proposal?

The CBO estimate will turn into ‘cover’ for the members of Congress that vote yes on this monstrosity. They will vote yes and then tell us that they would have never voted for the bill if they had known……………….oh well, too late now.

Message to Congress – at least 80% of Americans have demanded that you read the bills before you sign them. We will not allow you to use this as an excuse. If you vote on a bill without knowing the details/impact to your constituents – we will vote you out.

Alternatives to Detention – Janet Napolitano

Via CNSNews.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Tuesday that she is pursuing plans to remove some captured illegal aliens from “prison-like or jail-like circumstances” and put them in converted hotels and nursing homes.

“To better manage detention operations, ICE will develop a risk assessment and custody classification, which will enable detainees to be placed in an appropriate facility,” DHS said in a statement. “ICE will pursue detention strategies based on assessed risk and reduce costs by exploring the use of converted hotels, nursing homes and other residential facilities.”

Um, if we are going to put illegal aliens on a bus to transfer them – why don’t we just transfer them back home? In addition, if we have converted hotels, nursing homes or other residential facilities available – why don’t we utilize this space to house our American homeless population?

Ms. Napolitano, do you realize that illegally entering the US is a crime? How on earth is this going to deter this illegal activity? Come to America illegally and we’ll put you up in a hotel? Your responsibility is to ensure the security of our borders, not inject your ideology. If you disagree with the law – change it. Oooh, that’s right, a significant majority of the American people do not agree with your ideology.

Napolitano noted that DHS will develop detention strategies based on assessed risk that will reduce costs and put illegal aliens “near immigration service providers.” These strategies will include pursuing the use of non-prison-like housing.

Aw………it becomes a little clearer. They are going to make it more convenient for the LaRaza/LaCasa groups to assist these persons with their immigration.

Janice Kephart, national security policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies, believes that “alternatives to detention” is just another name for the failed “catch and release” model.

“‘Alternatives to Detention’ is just another way to say ‘Catch and Release,’ which was the thorn in the side of the prior administration until they stopped it and put rule of law in place,” said Kephart.

“Although managing detention facilities and their populations well is a good goal, simply doing it by reducing the illegal population and dispersing them back into American communities does not help enforce immigration law or make our communities more secure,” Kephart said.

Kephart pointed out that Mir Aimal Kansi, who murdered two CIA employees outside the agency’s Langley, Va., headquarters; Ramzi Yousef, who masterminded the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center; and Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, who inspired the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, had all been asylum applicants who were left free in the United States.

Those pesky terrorists are always getting the way of Napolitano’s plans…………………..I wonder how the people in the communities will feel about these ‘Immigration Hiltons’ being in their neighborhoods?

Global Warming?

Some Idaho school kids enjoy an early snow day.

This may be one for the record books, not only how early this heavy fall snowstorm is, but the fact that it appears to have created the earliest snow day in the history of the Blaine County School District.

Loveland ski area opens today.

Boasting its earliest opening day in 40 years, Loveland officials opened for skiing today. Arapahoe Basin announced it would open Friday.

Resort Opening Earlier Than Ever Before.

The 2009-2010 season at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort is underway, the earliest the resort has ever been open.

It’s not just the US.

Frozen: Early snow leaves farmers in northern Armenia counting their losses.

Unusual at this time of the year even for these upland areas of the country, the spell of cold weather in Aragatsotn, Shirak and Lori began on Monday night, with temperatures dropping to or below zero and snowfalls registered for the first time [in September] in more than four decades.

Congress had better hurry and get that Cap and Tax passed as it seems the planet is not cooperating with their agenda. Mother Nature must be a conservative ;o)

What Is Kevin Jennings Agenda?

It’s elementary. Kevin Jennings believes the only way to keep children safe is to teach them about tolerance. He wants to teach tolerance by teaching elementary school children about gay lifestyles.

“It’s Elementaryis the most important film dealing with LGBT issues and safe schools ever made. It took a topic that was mystifying to many people and made it real, inspiring an entire generation of educators to see how they could make a difference…. No other film has had a bigger impact on LGBT issues in the schools.” —Kevin Jennings, executive director, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network

The main problem with this agenda is the fact that Kevin Jennings has a complete disregard for the parents of these children. Most parents do not want anything sexual discussed with their children in elementary school. These are discussions that should be happening between parents and children to ensure the parents/family morals and religious guidelines are at the forefront of the discussion. Parents do not lose their right to parent because their children are in public schools.

In addition, his focus does not seem to be on all children – only gay children – which by his own estimates are approximately 7% of school age children. What about the other 93%?

In a 2006 interview with Salon, Jennings said:

“I always remind myself that Americans have all been raised to pledge allegiance to the ideal of liberty and justice for all. And eventually the disconnect between how we treat some people and those ideals becomes so overwhelming that the majority of Americans will say, “Enough, this has to stop.” That’s what led to the end of slavery, that’s what led to suffrage, that’s what led to the civil rights movement — it’s when people have the disconnect between the American reality and American ideals shoved in their face to the point they can no longer take it. That’ll happen on this issue too, no doubt in my mind.”

This is an interesting pick for Obama if you look back at his comments regarding Bush’s pick of James Holsinger as Surgeon General.

President Obama, I have serious reservations about nominating someone who would inject his own pro-gay ideology into critical decisions about the health and well-being of our children.

FEMA Grant To ACORN – Frozen

As I reported on September 12, 2009;

Why has FEMA paid The Acorn Institute $1.4 Million in grants since August 2008?

Paid 8/29/08 – Fiscal Year 2007 = $450,484

Paid 9/04/09 – Fiscal Year 2008 – $997,402 (only 6 grants were issued for more money than ACORN – out of 220 grants)

According to the FEMA website the purpose of these grants are:

The purpose of the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants is to fund Fire Prevention and Research and Development activities.  Fire Prevention Grant Activities are designed to reach high-risk target groups and mitigate incidences of deaths and injuries caused by fire and fire-related hazards.  Research and Development Grant Activities are aimed at improvements to firefighter health and safety.

It is being reported by Fox News that the funds related to the 2009 grant have been frozen.

How Much Will Obamacare Cost You?

Thanks to Hot Air – you can calculate it – and should.

Barack Obama and his Democratic colleagues on Capitol Hill have tried to sell ObamaCare as a way to make health insurance more affordable for all Americans, but does it deliver?  The AP sounded skeptical on Sunday, when they analyzed the various proposals, noting a number of ways in which costs will escalate for consumers outside of Congressional sales pitches.  The article also links a handy tool from the Kaiser Family Foundation, generally supportive of health-care reform, that allows consumers to get an idea of what ObamaCare will cost them individually and as families.

The Kaiser tool also helps quantify the subsidies.  At an annual income of $33,000, for instance, a family of four would get over $10,000 in tax refundables to help pay for their health insurance, only contributing less than $1500 out of their own pocket.  The total tax liability for a family earning $33K per year falls far below $10,000, which means they will not only pay no income taxes but will take away from the general fund.  At $44K, twice the poverty level, the family would pay $3,070 for their insurance and get $8,445 in subsidies, which would likely also far outstrip their tax liability.  We will pay each family earning $66,000 over $3600 a year in subsidies despite the fact that they make far above the median American income.

Try out the Kaiser web site and see for yourself.

I did – this free insurance is going to cost me more than 250% more than what I am currently paying…………………

Since I make less than $250,000 a year and this fee is considered an excise tax – Obama – YOU LIE!!!

It’s All About The Photo Op

Via The New York Post:

The physicians, all invited guests, were told to bring their white lab coats to make sure that TV cameras captured the image.

But some docs apparently forgot, failing to meet the White House dress code by showing up in business suits or dresses.

So the White House rustled up white coats for them and handed them to the suited physicians who had taken seats in the sun-splashed lawn area.

All this to provide a visual counter to complaints from other doctors that pending legislation is bad news for the medical profession.

Of course what they don’t tell you is that these 150 doctors are the only doctors they could find that would support this plan – it took them weeks – and probably million of our dollars in grants ;o)

ACORN Threw Out Republican Voter Registrations

Via Atlas Shrugs:

In February of 2009 Fathiyyah Muhammad of Jacksonville, Florida, heard that ACORN was paying three dollars for each vote you could register. Fatiyyah claims she registered voters for Acorn there (at three dollars each), but that the group threw out her votes and fired her when she brought them GOP registrations.

It’s hard to know if this story is real. I’m hoping that Atlas at least saw some kind of documentation that Ms. Muhammad actually worked for ACORN. It bothers me that there is no name of an ACORN employee given. However, this is not ACORN’s first voter registration fraud in Florida:

Federal and state authorities in Miami are still searching for five of the 11 people suspected of falsifying information on hundreds of voter registration cards — including registering the name of the late actor Paul Newman — the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told FOXNews.com Thursday.

Six people were taken into custody Wednesday as arrest warrants were issued for 11 workers hired by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — or ACORN — on charges of voter registration fraud.

Florida state attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle said the 11 workers hired to register voters by ACORN in Homestead, Fla., submitted 888 fraudulent names — which included names of people who were already registered voters, fictitious names, and the name of the late actor Paul Newman, who died in Sept. 2008.

Do you ever wonder if your vote counted – if just maybe some of these fraudulent registrations turned into REAL votes? I know I do……………

ACORN Embezzlement – Not $1Million – $5Million

Via Nola:

An internal review by the board of directors of the community organization ACORN determined that the amount allegedly embezzled from the community organization was $5 million, well more than the previously reported amount of nearly $1 million, according to a new subpoena in an investigation by Louisiana  Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.

The subpoena, released this afternoon, says, “It is still unclear if some of the monies embezzled are from state, federal or private funds.”

Just a little accounting error?? Remember, we already know that the $1million embezzlement was stolen from employee pension funds. Also, I’m not sure why they keep reporting that the money was paid back. According to all the documents I’ve read, at least $200,000 of this money was written off as a gift.

“Current high ranking members of ACORN have publicly acknowledged that embezzlement did in fact occur, but the exact amount of the embezzlement was unknown until it was recently acknowledged in a board of directors meeting on Oct. 17, 2008, by Bertha Lewis and Liz Wolf that an internal review had determined that the amount embezzled was $5 million,” the new subpoena says.

As knowledged by Bertha Lewis??? I’m trying to track down the actual subpoena, I will post as soon as I find this info.

Rooting Against America?

Yes, I rooted for Chicago to lose the Olympic bid. I was rooting for the Chicago majority that didn’t want the Olympics in their town – rooting for the citizens that need money spent on their protection – not a photo op for Obama in 2016.

Does this mean I was rooting against America? Of course not.

It seems the Democrats don’t agree. Via Politico:

But the joyous reaction in some GOP quarters to the International Olympics Committee’s snub of Chicago — coupled with the party’s rapid-fire reaction to bad economic data – has some Democrats turning the tables and asking if Republicans are the ones cheering against America now.

Many Democrats saw the outbursts following the IOC decision – the merry Tweets, videos of cheering conservatives and chest-thumping by party leaders like Newt Gingrich — as part of larger pattern that includes the flirtation of right-wing Texans like Gov. Rick Perry with secession and the caustic tone of right-wing talk radio, embodied by Rush Limbaugh’s “I want him to fail” comment about Obama in January.

Wake up Democrats. It is NEVER un-American to back the will of the majority of American citizens. My questions:

  • Why were you supporting the Olympics if Chicagoans didn’t want it?
  • Why are you not supporting the will of the people?
  • Were you supporting Chicago or Obama?

It seems to me that the Chicagoans that did not support the Olympics in their city should be thanking the Republicans – for supporting them.

You Can’t Handle The Truth Obama

Politico is reporting:

According to sources close to the administration, Gen McChrystal shocked and angered presidential advisers with the bluntness of a speech given in London last week.

The next day he was summoned to an awkward 25-minute face-to-face meeting on board Air Force One on the tarmac in Copenhagen, where the president had arrived to tout Chicago’s unsuccessful Olympic bid.

An adviser to the administration said: “People aren’t sure whether McChrystal is being naïve or an upstart. To my mind he doesn’t seem ready for this Washington hard-ball and is just speaking his mind too plainly.”

Speaking his mind too plainly…………….code for – how dare he tell the truth!

This administration really has no clue about military code or morals. When they put General McChrystal in charge of the troops in his mind they put the lives of those troops in his hands. No military commander worth his salt would sit by quietly – doing the political thing – while his soldiers die.

Rather than blame General McChrystal, maybe Obama should be asking where his administration broke down in communicating the needs of our troops. Why was this ignored until the media reported?

Thank you General McChrystal for standing up for our troops.

ACORN Illegally Used Prisoners To Canvas For Voter Registration Drives

There is very little coverage of what’s happening in Nevada – at least credible coverage. This case is about much more than just the ‘blackjack’ promo. According to Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, a democrat:

“They constantly say, look we just had a bad apple. We had a bad employee like most people do. Clearly, that’s not the case. This is an organization that came to Nevada – hired people that were still in prison, convicted of identity theft, that were on work release programs to go out and canvas these votes.”

“Wait – wait a minute – Hired people still in jail?”

“Correct. There’s a transitional housing facility, Casa Grande, down there. ACORN approached them and hired individuals that were still in prison. Some of them convicted of serious offenses – identity theft – a violation of State law, that these inmates should not have had contact with peoples personal information. Those were the individuals that were out canvassing people. So, it’s no surprise then that many of the forms those individuals turned in would be fraudulent.”

Note: 47% of forms turned in by ACORN in Nevada turned out to be fraudulent.

A little background on Casa Grande:

Casa Grande is NDOC’s Southern Nevada Re-entry Transition Center in the industrial section of Las Vegas, west of Interstate 15. It opens in December 2005 and will house up to 400 non-violent offenders (no sex offenders) in a dorm-like setting, during their last four to six months of incarceration, enabling them to live in the community and get jobs and take other steps to set up their release. Assistance in employment, family counseling, educational goals and other services will be provided at Casa Grande.

Yes, they are still prisoners during the 4-6 months they spend at Casa Grande. They have not been released, not on parole, not on probation – they are prisoners – and ACORN knew it. ACORN had to work with the Nevada Department of Corrections to secure these employees.

Joy Behar And Janeane Garofalo

You have to give Bay Buchanan credit for trying – but there’s just no discussing Obama with Joy or Garofalo – it’s racist – reality doesn’t matter.

As usual Joy Behar doesn’t bother reading the news before she tries to report it as she discuss the “Obama assassination poll”;

“We’ve never seen that for any other President.”

Yes, we have Joy. Via Washington Examiner:

It’s clear that the Secret Service’s job is to take threats to the president seriously but what should be the standards for Facebook?

Several groups on Facebook are dedicated to the demise of George W. Bush. Most of the dozen or so groups dedicated to killing him however, have only a few followers, but some of them have become quite popular.

For example there is a group named “We all Want To Kill George Bush” with 429 members, and LETS KILL BUSH WITH SHOES has 484 members.

The optimistic leader of the group “I bet that I can find 1000000 people who wanted to kill Bush” has fallen short with 518 members.

A quick search for any threatening groups towards Bill Clinton suggests that he got off the hook, but his wife Hillary has earned a few threatening fans such as the members of the group “Kill Hillary” and “If Hillary Clinton is Elected, I’m shooting her.”

Fortunately only 7 members joined the group “If 20 people join we’re going to pay the Russians to kill Hillary Clinton.”

Silly me – I forgot – we’re talking about CNN. Accuracy is not one of their strong points……………..

Obama – 2 Accomplishments – Jack & Squat – UPDATED

I’m not sure how they let this slip through the censorship – but it’s hilarious……………..Quite frankly this is the most accurate look at the Obama Presidency that’s been shown on the ‘mainstream media’. Sad state of affairs – Saturday Night Live – accurate – Mainstream News Media – not so much.

UPDATE:

Seeing this made me wonder how Obama stacked up against President Bush and President Clintons records from January 20th to October 2nd of their first terms as it relates to legislation signed by each President.

Obama = 64 pieces of legislation signed into law*

Bush = 199 pieces of legislation signed into law

Clinton = 264 pieces of legislation signed into law

*of these 64 – 16 were legislation to designate names of federal buildings

President Obama – maybe you should consider lightening your travel and speaking tours and focus on running the country. It seems that you may not be able to multi-task.

This is actually a report card on our leadership and Congress – the President can’t sign legislation if the Congress cannot get it done – Congress cannot get it done without leadership.

Wait For It………….It Was Bush’s Fault

I’m surprised it took this long. Via Chicago Sun-Times:

Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentment likely played a role in Chicago’s Olympic bid dying in the first round Friday.

President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for years, they said.

“There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.”

State Rep. Susana Mendoza (D-Chicago) said she saw firsthand the resentment against America five years ago when she was in Rio de Janeiro. “I feel in my gut that this vote today was political and mean-spirited,” she said.

Note to Chicago – maybe the rest of the world isn’t as enamoured with “The One” as you are – just maybe the murders of children in your street had something to do with the decision – maybe the reputation/history of Chicago corruption had something to do with it – maybe you just lost.  Personally I am seeing a bunch of poor sports, ironic isn’t it.

What a predicament this has put the Obama Administration in – they can’t say that the world hates America because all they’ve been preaching is how much the world loves Obama – especially since the G-20 meeting was so recent.

Presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs rejected the notion that the vote was influenced by the United States’ standing: “No, I think you saw both at the U.N. General Assembly, you saw at the G20 last week … I think virtually every measure of our standing in the world is different than it was just this time last year. So I don’t read too much of that into this.”

They don’t dare utter that the world doesn’t like the US – because that would imply that the world doesn’t love Obama and that just couldn’t be…………………..
